NEW SCHOOL – Extra Hořký Pilsner
PilsnerLighter and more distinctly hop-forward. We brewed it with new-wave Czech hop varieties: Most, Eris, Saturn and Uran. The beer is highly dry, pale and intensely hopped for a lager. Alongside the familiar notes associated with classic Czech hops, the aroma brings white fruit and citrus notes, while a pronounced bitterness accentuates its crisp character.
A contemporary take on Czech Pilsner, viewed through the lens of modern hop cultivation and new brewing techniques.

New-wave Czech hops and a powerful 55 IBU
While classic lagers are often associated with traditional hopping methods, Extra Hořký Pilsner takes bitterness a step further, redefining what bitterness can mean in a Pilsner. A classic 12% original extract provided a light, dry and exceptionally pale malt base — the perfect backdrop for the impact of new-wave Czech hop varieties: Most, Eris, Saturn and Uran. Alongside pronounced white fruit and citrus notes, these hops allowed us to push the bitterness all the way to an uncompromising 55 IBU. This level delivers a clean, deep and distinctly noble bitterness that immediately refreshes the palate and defines the beer’s crisp character, while its 5.4% ABV remains well hidden.
Bitterness at the table: what to serve it with?
Such an intensely hopped, dry lager is a real treasure at the table. Its high bitterness makes Extra Hořký Pilsner an ideal match for rich and fried foods, providing an exceptionally refreshing counterpoint on the palate. It creates a perfect pairing with traditional Czech and Polish cuisine — from roasted pork knuckle and traditional Polish pork chop to fried cheeses. It also works brilliantly alongside classic street food, bringing out the flavours of beef burgers and crispy french fries. To fully appreciate its modern hop aroma and depth of bitterness, serve this Pilsner well chilled, at around 4–6°C, in a classic beer mug or a slender glass designed for bottom-fermented beers.
