Rye Baltic Porter
Rye Baltic PorterAs part of a collaboration brewed specially for Baltic Porter Day, we created this Polish brewing treasure in a bold new version with a generous dose of rye malt — meet our Rye Baltic Porter.
The malt bill was the key to this beer, so we approached it with meticulous care. The base is, of course, a blend of high-quality barley malts, but rye makes up as much as 23% of the grist. We used three different types of rye malt, sourced from three malt houses in three different countries.
In the aroma, the first impression brings intense notes of dark rye bread, often referred to as pumpernickel — a signature characteristic of rye malt. These aromas are complemented by hints of chocolate and molasses. As the beer warms, layers of dried fruit — mainly plums and raisins — begin to emerge.
On the palate, Rye Baltic Porter stands out immediately for its dense, oily texture. The malt profile is rich and layered: wholegrain bread, tea biscuits, dark cake, bitter chocolate, and subtle spice notes. The finish brings flavors of plum jam and a gentle, warming alcohol liqueur character.
