Pan IPAni Jubileuszowe – 10 lat
New Hops Wheat IPAIn March 2015, exactly 10 years ago, we brewed the very first batch of Pan IPAni.
We want to celebrate this decade with some reflection because ten years is a long time in brewing. Over this period, the hop business has evolved significantly. Hop growers are trying constantly to extract the maximum flavor and aroma from the cones. This fresh approach to hops has become our guiding principle behind the brewing of the jubilee version of Pan IPAni.
Pan IPAni New Hops uses the exact same grist as the classic Pan IPAni, with identical beer parameters. For this latest version, we decided to incorporate innovations from the hop market at various stages of the brewing process. So, what are these new hop products? Various hop companies compete to invent technologies that extract the best from hops — their oils, which carry both aromatic compounds and bitterness.
We emphasize firmly — this has nothing to do with artificial flavorings. All the innovations we use are 100% natural products derived from hop cones. After 11 years of running the challenging craft brewing business, we have never compromised our brewing values by using even a trace of artificial aromas in our beers!!!

2014

The first batches of Pan IPAni were brewed back in 2014 in 0.33 l stubby bottles, at a brewery in Nowy Sącz. Today we like to joke that we were brewing Hazy IPA before it was even discovered or became trendy. Back then, it was simply a Wheat IPA, although the recipe was quite progressive for the time. The bottling process was done entirely by hand, requiring many hours of meticulous work.
The beer made its debut at the Beerweek Festival in Kraków, and it instantly won over the hearts of craft beer fans. The beer blogging community, which was large and diverse back then, also gave it enthusiastic praise. Almost all reviews were overwhelmingly positive.
To sum it up – Pan IPAni had a remarkably successful launch!
2015

We moved production to a new brewery in Szczyrzyc. That year, we switched to 0.5 l bottles, which led to a surge in both sales and the popularity of Pan IPAni.
We received our first brewing medals, and we can still taste the sweetness of that success today. Pan IPAni spent very little time in the warehouse—beer lovers snapped it up as soon as it hit the shelves. We kept wondering where to find the spare brewing capacity to meet the growing demand for our bestseller.
Back then, demand far exceeded supply, and brewers often faced a shortage of available fermenters. Quite the opposite of the situation today…
2016

We decided to “imperialize” our flagship beer and brew a double version of Pan IPAni. The beer turned out so thick, completely hazy, and sticky that we honestly feared the market would reject it. But instead, it became an early sign of the upcoming trend.
Its premiere took place at the now-closed and much-missed Tap House pub in Kraków, which was also the flagship pub of the (also now-closed) Pracownia Piwa Brewery. The owner and head brewer of Pracownia Piwa jokingly said, “Hey, what’s this? Did you forget to clarify it or what?”
We just smiled silently – we knew exactly what we were doing.
2017

We moved production to a brewery in Zawiercie and switched to the “Vichy” bottle, the most popular and standard format in the craft beer scene. We refined the recipe, but the brewery required us to reduce the amount of flakes in the composition, so we already knew that another relocation was just a matter of time.
Of course, we still feel nostalgic about that version of Pan IPAni, but we had to ensure the possibility of using larger amounts of unmalted ingredients in the mash. The limiting factor was the lauter tun – it was simply too narrow, and the large quantity of flakes would clog the lautering process.
And just to be clear – Pan IPAni kept winning awards, but luckily, during that time, the guys building Browar Zapanbrat came to our rescue like knights on white horses.
2017/2018

We moved to Browar Zapanbrat in Żywiec, where we still brew our beers today. At last, we had access to brewhouse and bottling facility at a world-class level, which allowed us to return to a juicy, hop-forward version of the recipe. The beer continued to win medals, often beating even more intensely hopped beers. These years were dedicated to fine-tuning the process with the new brewery so that any brewer could brew Pan IPAni almost with their eyes closed – and the result was always excellent.
2019

The fifth anniversary of Trzech Kumpli Bewery.
To celebrate, we brewed a birthday edition of Pan IPAni with double the hops. Alongside Pan IPAni, we bottled Califia and Native American in our 330 ml stubby bottles. The label design for this batch didn’t even include the brewery’s name or logo, and still, you bought out the entire batch in no time! It confirmed that the iconic stained glass design on the Pan IPAni label has become a symbol of great beer for you. We look back on that year with a bit of nostalgia. We threw a big anniversary party at Weźże Krafta, which was then located in the now-closed Dolne Młyny complex in Kraków. What a party that was!
2020

In the pandemic year, we decided to take Pan IPAni’s visual identity to the next level, by switching to fully printed cans. They looked amazing, and to this day, we remain the only craft brewery in Poland that has gone this route. We’ve since released four other beers in printed cans as well! We were surprised by how much work and financial investment this project required, but years later, we still have no regrets.
Pan IPAni in a printed can still looks fantastic, but of course, but we decided to make changes anyway. We couldn’t sit still for long. We’re always chasing improvement, innovation, and the thrill of trying something new!
2021

As if we weren’t thrilled enough with our regularly brewed Pan IPAni Double, we decided to go one step further and we brewed a Triple Pan IPAni. It wasn’t an easy beer to produce from a technical standpoint, requiring massive amounts of hops, but you loved it so much that people are still asking about it today. Unfortunately, we don’t brew it often anymore. After the pandemic, market preferences shifted dramatically and Double and Triple IPAs simply don’t sell as well as they used to. And this beer, more than any other in our lineup, has to be enjoyed fresh to fully appreciate its character. Maybe one day we’ll bring it back…
2024

10th Anniversary of the Brewery. To celebrate, we brewed a special edition of Pan IPAni Double – an explosion of hoppiness and freshness. But the real breakthrough was the creation of a non-alcoholic version of our flagship beer. We received tons of positive feedback on both brews. You especially loved the alcohol-free Pan IPAni, where we basically threw in just as much hops as in the classic version. As always – no compromises!
Once again, we proactively responded to the changing beer market. Though we still laugh that if someone had told us five years ago that people would be craving non-alcoholic Pan IPAni, we would have thought they were a lunatic prophet.
And of course, we threw another big birthday party, again at Weźże Krafta in Kraków, which in the meantime had moved to a new location in the Kazimierz district.
It was fantastic!
2025

We’ve refreshed the look of Pan IPAni and the Trzech Kumpli brand. We went for more recognizability, added more light and vibrancy to the label, while keeping the brewery’s signature vibe and the iconic stained glass motif of Pan IPAni that you’ve loved for over a decade. After all, Pan IPAni is an icon of Polish craft beer, so we approach any changes to it with extreme caution. But looking at the final result and at this decade-long journey, we can honestly say: we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved. There aren’t many breweries that can say about one of their beers: “This is a true craft beer icon.”
Thank you for supporting us with your choices at the beer shelf. Thanks to you, we can continue writing the next decade of this remarkable beer’s story.
WE BREW WHAT WE LOVE!
