Trzech Kumpli play basketball
Do you remember that at the beginning of last autumn we took care of a basketball club from our hometown, Tarnów: MUKS 1811?
We are now writing another page of the history of Trzech Kumpli Brewery’s support for local “basketball”!
Well, four boys, who play in the classic 5 × 5 formula on a daily basis, have decided to try their hand at 3 × 3 games.
Things went very quickly. The guys signed up and we helped them on their first trip to Giżycko for the Grand Prix Tournament as part of the Polish Youth 3 × 3 Basketball Championship.
The boys arrived, played, won the second place and came back happy with the trophy in their hands!
We have written “boys” because this is a team that plays in the U17 category. It means they are the seventeen-year-old boys, but believe me, the level of the game is very high! What team name did they play with? What do you think? Obviously that of Trzech Kumpli! So, we can seriously claim that since than we have had our own Trzech Kumpli team.
3 × 3 is a form of basketball that is gaining more and more popularity every year. Each team consists of three players and one substitute. The game is played on a half-court with one basket. The team makes their own decisions on substitutions, the coach cannot give instructions to the players during the match. The game is a single period of 10 minutes with sudden death at 21 points. The winner is the first team to score 21 or the team with the higher score at the end of the 10 minutes. Every successful shot inside the arc is awarded one point, while every successful shot behind the arc is awarded two points. The game is very dynamic, full of 1: 1 duels, there is less tactic and static, instead there is more “messy street ball” with the elements of “street smart”.
It all reminds us of our beer Kraft.
The guys have got involved, they are hungry for success, they have already planned trips to Warsaw, Łódź, Kraków and other cities. They strongly declare that next season they will enter the U23 category, which we support with all our strength, because nothing develops a person as much as setting the bar high (up to a basket).
Igor, Mikołaj, Mateusz and Szymon – applause and congratulations!
We keep our fingers crossed for scoring more points in the Grand Prix competition!
Trzech Kumpli’s team: Igor Michalski, Mikołaj Wróbel, Mateusz Baziak, Szymon Witek
Coach: Łukasz Stawarz
UPDATE:
The boys have won the gold medal in the qualifiers of the 3 × 3 Polish Youth Basketball Championship in Łańcut!
We are full of pride! Well done!
