Canned Beer – Why Is It Better?

We’ve got the cans!

We’re kicking off our canned releases with our flagship beers – while continuing to bottle the same brews, giving you the freedom to choose: non-returnable glass or eco-friendly aluminium.

Our cans ARE PRINTED. That means they’re 100% easily recyclable – a fact that’s more relevant than ever in the face of the climate crisis and the global aluminium shortage.

We’ve opted for cans with BPA NI interior coatings – meaning they’re bisphenol-free. Although current scientific knowledge is inconclusive regarding the effects of BPA on human health at the levels potentially absorbed from food packaging, we prefer to err on the side of caution.

We print our cans practically next door, at Canpack’s facility in Brzesko – just a 20-minute train ride from Tarnów.

Why cans?

♻️ Beer is extremely sensitive to light, and cans offer total protection thanks to their complete opacity. Why is sunlight harmful to beer? UV rays trigger photolysis in bear, breaking down iso-alpha acids (the compounds responsible for bitterness). That reaction produces another compound known for its “skunky” aroma – chemically: 3-methyl-2-butene-1-thiol (a.k.a. isopentenyl mercaptan). Of course, brown bottles offer some protection, but nothing beats lightproof aluminium.

♻️ Cans are airtight – more so than bottle caps. This prevents air from entering, significantly reducing the risk of oxidation and helping to prevent the beer’s premature spoilage.

♻️ Aluminium doesn’t rust. It won’t leak, and is perfectly suitable for long-term storage of big beers like Porters and RISs. Our supplier guarantees the internal coating can handle up to 15% ABV.

♻️ Despite being ultra-light (just 20 grams!), cans are more impact-resistant than glass, which makes them easier and safer to transport and store.

♻️ Aluminium is infinitely recyclable – unlike glass, which poses more challenges. Our supplier is a member of Metal Packaging Europe, an organization that promotes sustainable aluminium use and raises recycling awareness across the industry (among both manufacturers and consumers). You’ll find the Metal Recycles Forever logo on our cans – and that says it all.

♻️ The aluminium used to produce our cans comes from recycled sources – up to 87% recycled content, compared to the global industry average of 70%. For reference, glass in the EU averages around 45%.

…And let’s be honest – printed cans just look amazing.

Cheers!
