We are back from France with medals!
We have won seven medals in this year’s Concours de Lyon competition. This is therefore our second best result in the history of competing in this international competition, which dates back to 2019.
According to the organisers, this year the jury tested more than 10,000 samples from 48 countries. Breweries from 20 countries competed for medals in the beer category, which is divided into 60 subcategories. The Poles won a total of 14 medals.
The list of our medallist beers is as follows:
Gold medal – Idiota (Imperial Stout)
Gold medal – Igrok (Wood and Barrel Aged Beer)
Silver medal – Pils Trzech Kumpli (Bohemian Style Pilsner)
Silver medal – Wędzony Porter Bałtycki (Smoked Beer)
Silver medal – Porter Bałtycki Trzech Kumpli (Porter)
Silver medal – Misty (New England IPA)
Silver medal – Taura (Imperial IPA)
Now a word of commentary as far as each of them is concerned.
Idiota – last year a silver medal, this year a gold one. From the jury’s notes we understand that the beer got almost full marks in this difficult and truly regal category.
Igrok – as Idiota, got almost full marks on the jury’s cards. Is it possible to “pull out” excellent potency by using good quality barrels and giving the beer enough time? It’s possible! The bitter and toasted imperial stouts are not dead and indeed they taste great!
Pils – “You will recognise them by Pils…’. Another competition in Lyon, another medal for Pils Trzech Kumpli. With this classic beer style, even minimal defects are thoroughly visible, that is why we are very pleased with such an award obtained both last and this year!
Wędzony Porter Bałtycki (Smoked Baltic Porter) – one of our newest beers, brilliantly received. Your feedback has now been confirmed by a medal. The first in the competition, but we hope not the last one. We will be happy to ship it around the world.
Porter Bałtycki (Baltic Porter) – the classic and pride of Polish brewing, which we try to present at European competitions. The silver medal in this category makes us very happy!
Misty and Taura – two gold medalists at the KPR – Kraft of the Year in the IPA category, proved that we are capable of producing hoppy beers, and now we have managed to prove it on French soil too.
Traditionally, we encourage you to taste the winning beers and we assure you that we are not going to rest on our laurels!
